Integrating academic learning and formative processes to strengthen Discipleship Training

For some years, women and men Major Superiors and Formators of different countries in Asia, especially in the Philippines, had been expressing the desire for an Institute for Consecrated Life to accompany the religious in deepening their biblical, theological and historical roots, as well as clarifying their identity, their communion and their mission in the Church and in the world. On June 14, 1997, the Institute for Consecrated Life in Asia (ICLA) was officially inaugurated and the first academic School Year 1997-1998 started and became academically valid for obtaining a Licentiate Degree in Theology of the Consecrated Life

ICLA, as an ecclesiastical institute, is incorporated into the Faculty of Theology of the University of Santo Tomas.  As a civil institute of higher learning, it is the Graduate Department of St. Anthony Mary Claret College, recognized by the Philippine government.
